Consumers United Association

Consumers United is an association made up of people, credit unions, and corporations who are dedicated to educating consumers on financial issues which impact their personal lives. They offer services and resources to aid consumers in the resolution of consumer problems and provide a united voice for consumers in legislative arenas. Anyone within the community can take advantage of these services for $5 a year or $25 for a lifetime membership.

Members Legal Advice

Since 1976, sponsoring credit unions in the Denver and Boulder metro areas have advertised the services that the Hughes Law Firm offers to their members at no charge under the terms of a membership benefit known as Colorado Group Legal. In exchange for this free advertising, the Hughes Law Firm discounts their fees 25% and offers free consultations on most legal matters they handle for all credit union members and their families.

Overdraft Courtesy Pay

The credit union has implemented an Overdraft Courtesy Payment program for your checking account. The added value to you includes no third party fees, late fees and no embarrassment of returned checks. All personal checking accounts, which have been open for a minimum of 90 days in good standing, will be eligible for the service.

 

Notary Public

A Notary Public can certify on a signed document that they have verified the signers are who they say they are, and that they have verified their signatures. (All signers must sign in the presence of the notary public.) To see fees on our notary services and copies, click here. Notary services are is available at all our locations.

 

Signature Guarantee

A Signature Guarantee is used for signed documents involving a financial transaction. It guarantees the signature(s) and the funds, up to a limit of $250,000. This service is done only for members, is free of charge, and is available at all of our branches.  Please provide the document that needs the signature guarantee as well as a current statement showing who owns the security and it's value.

AMEX Travelers Cheques

At our Boulder, North and South Longmont, Louisville, Denver and IBM Plant branches, American Express Travelers Cheques are available for 1 or 2 signers with a fee of 1% of the amount issued (i.e. $2 for $200 in cheques).

 

Western Union Money Orders

We can send money out from a member's account to a Western Union Office. This can only be done domestically. To see fees, click here. However, we cannot accept money into a member's account from a Western Union Office. This service is available at all our branches.

 

Wire Transfers

Wire transfers are available to our members for a fee. To view fees, click here. The funds are transferred through the federal reserve and are highly secured (vs. cutting a check and sending it through the mail). A domestic transfer can usually be done in one day, and an international transfer usually takes 2-3 days (but can take longer depending on its destination). This service is available at all our branches.

 

Official Checks

An Official Check is a guaranteed funds check. This means the credit union has already pulled the funds for the check from the member's account, so it is guaranteed to clear. Fees can be viewed by clicking here, and official checks are available at all of our branch locations.

 

Visa Gift Cards

Give the gift that never goes bad - a VISA gift card!  Now you can purchase VISA gift cards at any Premier Members branch.  These gift cards are the perfect gifts, whether it's for a birthday, wedding, graduation or even for the holidays. Members can purchase gift cards for $3.00 a piece in denominations from $25 to $500.  Balances and purchases can be viewed at at https://www.onlinecardaccess.com/main/bigiftcard/Home.
